10/16/2008 - “Quit looking over the Castle Wall!”
During the iCSPI Users Group Conference held in Iowa this past October 13-14, DCS Netlink CEO Dane Deutsch did a presentation on "Quit looking over the Castle Wall"
If you would like to hear Dane speak on this subject, please contact us at 877-DCS-NETL
Here is the synopsis:
"Everyone today it seems is connected to the Internet. In fact, most everyone does some type of financial transaction on the internet even. But, did you know that most internet security breaches and threats today still come from the inside of the networks we are all a part of, and not from the hacker, or the bad guy on the outside? Could it be that we, ourselves, are the biggest threat to security? During this seminar, you will learn that when you connect to the internet, everyone on the internet is now connected to you, and that requires you, as an individual link, to know and be "competent" concerning the basics of internet security both on your network as well as on your own laptop or desktop computer. However, that real threat we talked about on the inside of the network most likely will not occur just because we simply violated a security practice or policy. Solid internet security requires all of us to be trustworthy in our “character” as well. The old adage that the chain is only as strong as its weakest link is still true today. Dane will be sharing with you how character and competence both, go hand-in-hand to create a strong chain of security, with each person as individual links having both the character and competence to get secure and stay secure in this internet connected world today." “The human factor is the weakest link.” | more
